The San Marzano heirloom tomato arrived in Campania in 1770 as a gift from the Viceroyalty of Peru to the Kingdom of Naples. The San Marzano variety is praised for its low acidity, meaty texture, and few seeds with a tangy, rich flavor, unlike bland grocery store paste tomatoes.
This indeterminate type can produce 20-30 lbs of tomatoes and can grow 6-8 feet tall so it will need staking.
Interplant with basil, marigolds, calendula, onions, garlic, chives, thyme, rosemary, and oregano to improve flavor, increase harvest, repel harmful pests, and attract beneficial insects like bees and ladybugs.
Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
