Pink Jumbo Banana squash is an ancient, heirloom squash from South America that can weigh up to 70 pounds and up to 48 inches long. It has smooth, salmon-pink skin and orange flesh. The vigorous, sprawling vines can reach 10–12 feet in length.
Pink Jumbo Banana squash is excellent for baking, canning, freezing, and making pies. With an extra-long shelf life, it can keep well throughout the winter. It's also great for livestock! Harvest when the skin has turned color and dull dry, and you cannot dent it with a fingernail. Leave two inches of the stem on the squash for a longer storage life.
Plant next to dill, garlic, parsley, borage, marigolds, mint, oregano, rosemary, thyme, calendula, bee balm, catnip, catmint, zinnias, and snapdragons to repel harmful pests, attract predatory insects and pollinators. Interplant with peas and beans to add nitrogen to the soil and balance pH levels. Squash provides shade to radishes and other small root vegetables. Don't grow next to potatoes or pumpkins.
Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
