Peppermint is a versatile herb that not only adds a refreshing flavor to tea and other culinary creations but also has numerous benefits. Planting peppermint in the vegetable garden can have a mutually beneficial effect, as it can help repel pests like aphids and flea beetles while attracting beneficial insects like hoverflies and bees. Peppermint is also a natural deterrent for rodents and other pests, making it an excellent border plant around the property. With its deep roots, peppermint can also help improve soil quality and reduce erosion—plant near tomatoes, peppers, and cabbage for maximum benefit.
