The American Flag leek is a non-bulbous heirloom variety with blue-green leaves and thick white stems.  This leeks '15-18" inch stalks are 3" inches wide and are the sweetest member of the onion family.

Leeks are native to eastern Mediterranean lands and the Middle East and have been cultivated for over 3,000 years in the Mediterranean region. They have a mild flavor and are widely used in soups and stews.

Many people only use the white and light green parts, but don't throw away those leaves!  Roughly chop and dehydrate the leaves, then grind in a food processor to a powder.  Use this powder in all the dishes you'd use onion powder.

Starter will be in a 4" reusable nursery pot.
